“The guidance in this Rava Womb eBook changed everything for me. I finally understand why VBAC doula support is so nuanced. I always knew it was different than supporting my other clients, sure. Like, my prenatal visits were different of course…but I don’t think I really understood how many layers there are to supporting a mother going for a VBAC —until I read this book."

When I was a new doula, I would have loved to have a mentor to guide me. It was intimidating...those first births where I questioned everything. I recall one time when I felt I was running out of ways to 'help' a client who was hoping for a specific outcome for her birth. I reached out to Rava to draw upon her experience, hoping for suggestions.
What I received instead was something much more valuable. She walked me through a unique process. My mind and heart were opened to a new perspective! The result was I took a much more effective approach and my client was able to access her own inner wisdom, even as the medical odds may have seemed to be stacked against her.
Because Rava guided me to an understanding of how to hand this woman's power back to her, rather than giving her typical suggestions to ‘solve her problem’, this had a profound impact on her birth.
—Jennifae Coburn, Doula, Body Mind Birth
Because no one can guarantee that.
Because women deserve the chance.
And doulas deserve to know how to support them.
“I used to feel powerless when my VBAC clients faced pushback. When we got to the hospital. Not a good feeling. Now, for the last 3 births where my clients had their VBAC - yay! - I've had this new way of doing prenatal visits with them, and when supporting them in labor I've had the strategies and training. I've felt this renewed confidence, that I can really support them - and that feels so good!"

Hi ! I'm Rava Burke and I wrote this eBook not to make money so I have put a really accessible price on it because I see the need for this out-of-control cesarean section rate to be stopped from continually rising. And I am sure you want that too! I have been a birth doula and birth prep educator for so long (since 1995 ) that I remember a time when the C-section rate wasn't this high. I also remember a time when our C-section rate here in Canada - I am Canadian - was not as high as it was in the U.S. But that's not even true anymore! I continue to be sickened and saddened by what birthing people continue to have to fight against.
I've been a doula mentor for quite some time too, and in 2022 when I retired from actively attending births I found more time to be able to write. And so this e-Book is one of many that I hope to offer birth doulas. The others I've written (so far) are for parents. And recently I have also focused on getting my childbirth prep course (that I'd been doing with groups of parents for 25 years —until the pandemic) online so anyone can take it from anywhere.
I found I somehow drew women to me who wanted a VBAC or HBAC. Out of the 555+ births I was present for, 47 of them were VBACs or HBACs. I only had one client who had a repeat cesarean birth (out of the (48 "TOLACs" - trial of labor). They were all a joy to witness, as redemptive births really make my heart swell with joy for the parents.
I remember the moment a mama-client birthed her 10 pound baby in her narrow tub at home after having had a cesarean with her first child. I remember the moment during the pandemic when a mama-client found me and she told me she would be having a lot of children (due to her faith). It's true right? that we recognize the difference we make as doulas, always. But there was something different with this woman, knowing that I prevented her having at least five more C-sections. Since she had her VBAC with me for her second she was going to be able to go on having vaginal births without having to struggle to find a supportive doctor or midwife. This VBAC work is so satisfying to know how directly you can impact the health of another human being.
